Richard Wortmann, CPA, DABFA

Richard is an instructor for the AuditSense team, specializing in providing our GAAP Update classes.

He has over 25 years of experience meeting the accounting and auditing needs of public companies, employee benefit plans, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, health care organizations, private foundations, retail stores, construction companies, manufacturers, and professional services firms. His expertise includes financial and compliance audits, compilation, reviews, consulting on internal controls, policy and procedures development, and strategic planning. He also services other accounting firms as a quality control consultant.

Richard is the founding member of RW Group, LLC. Prior to forming RW Group, he was a partner at one of the top-10 national accounting firms. He was a professional practice leader, having responsibility over the quality of the audit and attest work issued from the firm’s home office. He also was the director of the firm’s national employee benefit plan audit practice in which, over a two-year period, the practice area doubled.

Richard serves on several professional committees at the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), including the National Peer Review Committee (NPRC), the NPRC’s QCM/CPE Task Force, and the Member’s Retirement Committee. At the state institute level, Richard is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA) Peer Review Committee and Chair of the Accounting and Auditing Procedures Committee. In 2009, he chaired the PICPA Annual Accounting and Auditing Conference. Previously, Richard served on the Pennsylvania CPA journal editorial board, not-for-profit, and health care committees. He is also an active member of IGAF Worldwide’s peer review committee, which has oversight responsibilities for the association-formed peer reviews in the United States.

Richard volunteers his time and skills to different civic organizations. He currently serves on the finance committee of the Westtown School; the audit committee of the Kendall Corporation; the board of directors, finance and property committees of the Kendall-Crosslands Communities; and as the elected auditor of New Garden Township, Pennsylvania.
