  • Ethical conduct
  • Core values and competencies
  • Professional responsibility
  • Responsibility to clients
  • Responsibility to the public

Other topics covered as part of this training include:

  • Key issues in civil and regulatory actions
  • National professional standards and interpretations
  • Analysis of ethical requirements and considerations
  • Ethics cases
  • Ethical decision making and behaviors
  • Circular 230

This course is taught by George Heyman, CPA, who has extensive experience on this topic, including serving as the Chairman of the Illinois CPA Society Ethics Committee. The class includes case studies drawn from “real-life” and explores how to take a proactive, risk-avoidance stance by pointing out common pitfalls and presenting alternative courses of action. Participants will explore ethical issues in the context of actual cases that were resolved both in favor of and against accounting and auditing professionals. Participants will also consider real-world accounting, tax and auditing choices that deal with management integrity and professional responsibilities as they apply to a variety of business topics.

Participants will leave this course with a renewed sense of appreciation for the pitfalls faced by every accounting professional and a better approach to overcome the ethical dilemmas that they may face in the future.
